Chocolate French ToastiesIngredientsDark chocolate 1 3/4 ounces
Milk 2/3 cup
Egg 1
Seedless raspberry preserve 4 tbsp
Rum(optional) 2 tbsp
White bread 8 thick slices
Butter for frying
Cinnamon(ground) 1/2 tsp
Superfine sugar 3 tbsp
A little whipped cream to serve
Methods/stepsBreak the chocolate into small pieces and place in a small pan with the milk. Heat gently; stirring until the chocolate melts. Let cool slightly. Beat the egg in a large mixing bowl and beat in the warm chocolate milk. Heat the raspberry preserve gently and stir in the rum; if using. Set aside and keep warm. Remove the crusts from the bread; cut into traingles; and dip each one into the chocolate mixture. Heat the butter or oil in a skillet and fry the bread traingles for 2-3 minutes; until just crispy; turning once. Mix together the cinnamon and superfine sugar and sprinkle it over the toast. Serve with the hot preserve sauce and a little whipped cream. Reviews |
