Karelas Stuffed with ShrimpsIngredientsKarelas (bitter gourd) 1 dozen
Shrimps 1/2 lb
Tomato 1
Lemon 1
Salt to taste
Ghee
Grind to a paste:
Onions 1
Dry red chillies 3
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds 1/2 tsp
Cloves garlic 3
Methods/stepsLightly scrape karela skins. Make a split lengthwise and remove all the seeds. Soak karaelas in salt and water for an hour as this will help lessen the bitter flavour. Drain and wipe dry. Heat a little ghee in a saucepan and fry masala paste till well cooked. Add cleaned shrimps and chopped tomatoes and cook till tender and dry. Add juice of lemon and leave to cool. Stuff karelas with shrimp mixture and tie with string. Heat ghee in a frying pan or kerai and when it smokes; fry karelas; 3-4 at a time. Fry till skins turn brown and crisp. Serve hot with chappatis. Reviews |
