Masur Ma Gosht (Parsi meat cooked with masur)IngredientsBlack masur dhal 1 lb
Sambhar masala or garam masala 1 dessertspoon
Mutton 1 lb or
Chicken 1
Onions 6
Lemon 1 large
Garlic 1/2 pod
Coriander leaves 1 small bunch
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Tomatoes 3 large
Green chillies 3
Cumin seeds 1/2 dessertspoon
Coriander seeds 1/2 dessertspoon
Ghee 1 tbsp
Chilli powder 1 dessertspoon
Salt to taste
Methods/stepsClean the masur dhal and soak in water for an hour. Wash the chicken or the meat and cut into small pieces. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a large saucepan, add the finely sliced onions and garlic and fry until they are golden brown. Add the turmeric powder, coriander and cumin seeds, red chili powder, and sambhar masala and lemon juice. Cook on a low heat till the spices are cooked. Now put into the mutton or the chicken, fry for a while. Then drain off the water and mix the masur into this. Add finely chopped coriander leaves, green chilies and tomatoes. Pour in 1 pint of water. Cover the saucepan and cook on a low heat, till tender.Serve hot, with chappatis. Reviews |
